Helsinki Literary Agency is launching a project to foster the presence of Finnish literature in the English-speaking and Spanish-speaking world.
Helsinki Literary Agency is proud to announce the launch of the Voices Across / Ääniä yli rajojen / Voces a través project, with the support of the Finnish Ministry of Education and Culture. The goal of the project is to foster the visibility and publication of Finnish literature in the English and Spanish language areas.

As part of the project HLA will:
– organize a four-day fellowship for acquiring editors from the English- and Spanish-speaking world
– organize a workshop for translators from Finnish/ Swedish/Sami language into English or Spanish to hone their translation skills and gain better insight into the Finnish literary scene
The English-speaking and Spanish-speaking worlds are two language areas with untapped potential when it comes to both the visibility of Finnish authors and rights sales. In-person meetings and better insight into the local literary scene are two of the biggest facilitating factors in selling rights, so with this project we aim to create new connections with both editors and translators to boost the publication of Finnish literature in both areas.
The project will be carried to term during the year 2026 and entails collaboration with Finnish Literature Exchange (FILI), and with an English-speaking and Spanish-speaking partners of choice.
We will be publishing updates on the project on this page and our social media channels, so stay tuned!
