Sally Salminen

Sally Salminen (1906–1976) was perhaps the most internationally renowned author from Finland of her time. Born in the Åland Islands, Salminen moved to New York in the 1930s, where she wrote her debut novel Katrina (1936). An ode to a woman’s strength and stamina, the novel immediately became a phenomenal success, translated into more than 20 languages.
